Also: Yay! for producing an ACEO card again. So… Yepp. This is trading card size. And I forgot that I used to do highlights with acryl paint. Well… Next time. At least I made use of my sparkly pens for some extra effect… Not that the scan shows it, but… Who cares?

Watching the “Meet the Medic” trailer for the umpteenth time, I was struck with the realization that the Medic is a complete airhead.  He’s sloppy, easily distracted, and he has an incredibly cavalier approach to the scientific method.  Inversely, he’s intuitive, good at improvising and he has no shortage of candor.

It’s kind of funny, comparing him to the Medic that has existed in fandom since the game’s release.  While I’d felt that his theatrical emotes suggested he wasn’t quite as stiff-lipped as most fans like to imagine him as, I always figured that he was a bit more meticulous… but he is our Medic, no matter the variations in his personality that exist in-game and in the fandom.  I still stand by my decision to slot him as Pisces in my zodiac thing…

I agree with everything you say here, and I think i’ve mentioned it before. It’s so easy to fall into the impression that hes a grump cos of how the fandom has seen medic for so long. I too got into TF2 after seeing MtM and His personnality really hooked me. I don’t think I portray him this way and I really should do so, cos it seems like such a fun interesting personnality compared to the grumpy uptight doctor we expect him to be

I think I’m still kind of a n00b to the fandom (and the game as well) because it’s only been a couple of months or so that I’ve been into TF2, but my impression of Medic from his meet video and what I got from the fandom were so different, I was kind of confused at first…
Because I always thought this guy is really, really happy and easily excitable (a bit… too excitable at times even XD). He goes through emotions so quickly, too. From mad, maniacal laughter to “ooh, zhat looks good.” *cool as a cucumber*
HE HAS SOME ISSUE.
Definitely doesn’t process situations the way most people do, either. He is awkward as fuck. Such as seeing the dirty look Heavy gives him after shooing Archimedes out of his guts, he seems to miss the point COMPLETELY.
He may even give Scout a run for his money when it comes to talking too much as well. XD
And so yeah… I never really understood the grumpy, uptight Doctor I’ve seen in the fandom either. Maybe it’s all based on appearances, and I can easily see how people would characterize him in such a way just by looking at him. At least as far as RED Medic goes, I like to try and keep him in as much canon that is offered in Meet the Medic (it’s part of the reason I like this fandom so much. CHALLENGE ACCEPTED). Admittedly, I’m one of those types who respects canon first, but I do tend to let myself go of that in TF2. :P

Now, everyone always had and always will have their own opinion on this. Until MtM got released his entire characterization within the fandom was based on that tiny bio as well as his ingame lines. And he just apparently does a LOT of complaining and ‘Bleh. My stupid team sucks.’ so… It hardly surprises me that he is often seen as grumpy.

Though sometimes I did get the impression, that people tend to miss his ‘WOOO!! LOOKIT DAT BLOOD!!’ lines at times. The ones that amuse me the most and make awesome ringtones, yepp.

Personally… I keep it as in real life: No person ever displays just that one side of them, but we all have multiple sides to our personality that show themself according to our current situation/feeling/whatever. So you can be grumpy when you had a bad day, you can be happy and carefree when you have the time of your life and you can be all the linefaces in the world when faced with apparent stupidity. And that’s how I keep it with roleplaying just as well. My character isn’t the personification of one mood, but has moods and acts according to what is going on around him or what keeps his mind occupied. It’s just… Natural. To me at least.

I roleplay Medic in an asylum game and he currently has a lovely downwards spiral of character developement he seems to be stuck in. Dear fellow inmates are not making it any better and if it keeps going like this, murder, rape and vivisections will be our smallest problem. Yay.

You guys wanted to know what RED #2 looks like. Here he is!

a medic built for stamina using the genes of medic and soldier. Heavy was the first option to try for this particular experiment but that didn’t work out too well and that clone was quickly destroyed.

RED #2 is…Blank. He doesn’t seem to have any personnality. He obeys everything the RED medic tells him to do (and the rest of the team.)

He isn’t often on the battle field, RED medic uses him to experiment new ideas and procedures and often hes just too messed up to battle. Sometimes he’ll get his chance. To which his chest usually explodes when he tries to Uber (check out pic for details)

So…Yeh! thats RED #2!

Back to learning th basics about human anatomy with me.

This isn’t as bad as you think! :) I can only dream of pulling off that hairline as well as you did. Also, your lines… they’re gorgeous. ♥

If you’re looking for pointers, definitely reference eyes from a profile view and take note of the shape they take. Also, the eye does seem to reach too close to the bridge of his nose.

If you’re not looking for pointers, I’m sorry… I don’t like offering critiques unless people ask for them. I just thought that this sketch has all the potential in the world! I really do like it a lot. :) ♥ If you’d like more suggestions, I’d be happy to give you more…

Oh, pointers are always welcome. At least that way I can be sure that I am not just seeing things, but that there really is something off with the entire thing.

Mostly the eye, yes. Silly eye… But that’s mostly the result of the entire drawing not having been intended at all. I just found the mechanical pencil I use with my blue mines, had a piece of paper in front of me and did that eye because… Well. No reason. The mine broke, I shrugged, and some hours later while chatting with my guildmates via teamspeak I picked up another mechanical pencil (red mine) and did the rest without thinking about it.And that’s how you do odd things to anatomy! /thumbs up

But Instead of trying to fix the errors I find now, I’ll rather carry the base idea over to an entirely new  piece. It’s all about practizing after all 8) ~ Sketching is, after all, what sort of is the most fun about drawing for me these days. Heh. So… Yeah. Still nice to hear some people like it and people enjoy looking at this simple creation even.
